A New Norm - Michele Liebler
First Street Gallery, New York, NY USA United States of America

Liebler's new series of portraits has led to a social commentary on our sorry state of existence. They take form in expressionistic and sometimes even cartoonish works. Her paintings, monotypes, and works on paper all share a common thread. Our threaten existence. They range from environmental victims, to political puppet heads, and Barbie Doll looking women. Liebler remarks that, 'This is the world, this is what's going on around me and I can't change that.' In Losing Face she propels her victims in a hybrid world of masked faces, each with their own personalized facemask. Each portrait is different from the other and each one in there own separate panel, arranged and stacked on top of each other to form an impressive 9 panel installation. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Market Forces Part 1 and 2
Erna Hecey Gallery, Brussels, BE Belgium

Market Forces addresses the euphoric consumer culture of the last decade that manifested itself in a seeming overflow of goods and services and an explosion of luxury housing development that now dominates the urban landscape. The term is derived from laissez-faire economic theory and refers to a hands-off approach to the 'natural order' of supply and demand. Used in this context, it is meant to invoke skepticism concerning the almost religious belief in, and militant protection of, our god-given right to consume. This two-part exhibition is intended to be as inclusive as the market is pervasive, with work that addresses the influence of consumerism on personality, labor, politics, and the built environment. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com
