Benjamin Lambert: Fish-Birds and a Snail
Daniel Kany Gallery, Portland, OR USA United States of America

For his first solo exhibition at Daniel Kany Gallery, Portland-based ceramic artist Benjamin Lambert presents over 20 new works based on sea life and its interaction with the culture of human technology. The works include freestanding and wall sculptures as well as thematically cutting cups and mugs. Lambert describes his figures as characters. Much of this quality comes from their seeming proximity to cutting edge animation and adult-oriented cartoons such as those by Matt Groening or Nick Park. While Lamberts project relies on the notion of legibility and makes use of projecting anthropomorphized personality traits, the artists most important forms and inclinations are absolutely based in sculptural concerns. Lambert starts all of his pieces by throwing them on the wheel. The next steps are largely lead by sculptural and structural decisions rather than the illustration of a pre-set idea. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Photographs of Details of Architecture by Ellen Fisch
Jadite Galleries, New York, NY USA United States of America

Ellen Fisch is a photographer of many subjects, but she has always had a special passion for the details of architecture created in various materials on building facades. In an ever evolving urban environment, Fisch has dedicated herself to capturing often-unnoticed details of architecture from another ageflowers, gargoyles, arabesques, and interlocking bandsthat decorate public and private structures, preserving a luminous and impressive visual record of peripheral elements that provide insight into the architectural aesthetics of their period. Ellen Fisch has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist and regular blog contributor at absolutearts.com since 2004. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Ellen Fisch's Architectural Vision
Michael Corbin

Ellen Fisch is a fantastic photographer who lives on Long Island, New York. She wrote me a very nice email about my first book, "Art In King Size Beds: A Collector's Journal." Since then, we've become friends and she is one of the best storytellers I've ever met. That's because she has lived a rich life. As of this writing, she's opening a new exhibition called, "Architectural Visions" on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Jadite Galleries in New York City. She told me that her show, which celebrates photography, architecture, the work of artisans and her own architectural vision, brings her full circle. Check out her website at www.ellenfisch.com and then read our conversation and find out why...
