Galerie La Centrale, Montreal, QB CA Canada Growing out of the feminist art movement and founded in 1973, La Centrale galerie Powerhouse is one of the oldest artist-run centers in Quebec. The center�s mandate expands on a history of feminist art practices and engages a broader spectrum of underrepresented artists and their initiatives within established art institutions. The gallery aims to provide a platform for contemporary art informed by feminist and gender theory, as well as intercultural and transdisciplinary practices. This involves networking and developing professional exchanges at the local, national and international levels. We promote the work of artists at all stages of their careers to allow for intergenerational dialogue. Bartley and Company Art, Auckland, NZ New Zealand (Aotearoa) Bartley and Company Art is very pleased to be able to present this new body of work by Mary-Louise Browne as its opening exhibition in Ghuznee Street. The exhibition represents her first foray into neon. Words are the constant feature of Browne's work and with this new work she continues her exploration of the metaphoric, material and visual power of language. The use of neon for the first time brings a new dimension with the direct and playful conflation of fine and commercial art practice. The messages here, however, are not those of commercial signs but openended found texts drawn from popular culture. The judges, Jeanne Brasile, artist, director, and primary curator of the Walsh Gallery at the Seton Hall University and�Rocky Rawstern, artist and consultant, former editor of Nanotechnology Now, awarded with the 2005 Foresight Institute Prize in Communication, will have to pick the winners out of 104 NanoArt works.�Winners will be notified and published online�after March 31, 2009. More than 70 artists from every continent participate in this group exhibition, where the common denominator is �the dream�. More than 45 years ago, Dr. King had a dream. This exhibition shows the artists� visualization of that dream. The exhibition consists of numerous writers, thinkers and scientists that had presented their �dream�. Mr. Thedore W. Kheel, Chairman of the Gabarron Foundation, supported Dr. King during his life as he resolutely collaborated in �the dream� as it is shown in the current catalogue of the exhibition.
