Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside, CA USA United States of America Blurring the boundaries of high and low art, Oceanside Museum of Art brings the Lowbrow art of 9 San Diego artists into the museum with the upcoming exhibition LOWBROW ART: Nine San Diego Pop Surrealists. Referencing multiple dimensions of pop culture, this exhibit highlights alternative styles of expression that comment on the subculture of San Diego. The exhibition presents Mary Fleener, Scott Saw, Tim McCormick, Scrojo (Craig Haskett), Jason Sherry, Charles Glaubitz, Ron Wharton, Pamela Jaeger and Jen Trute. Each artist extols their narrative world of fantasy through a personal approach reflecting the regional underground culture. A preview reception introduces the exhibition on Saturday, January 24th from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. OMA�s receptions are known for their party atmosphere complete with wine and scrumptious hors d�oeuvres prepared by OMA�s own Culinary Arts Council. Admission to the reception is $8. Members of the museum enjoy complimentary admission as a benefit of membership. Entitled 'Hamed Abdalla 1917-1985: Selected Works', the solo exhibition is on display Janauary 25 through March 26, 2009 in Cairo. Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts Gallery, Hamilton, ON CA Canada The Bruno Capolongo Invitational 2009 exhibition, featuring some of Canada's finest talent in contemporary fine art, will be held at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts Gallery (HCAG) in Canada. Showcasing both emerging and established artists, the BCI is the culmination of a process wherein accomplished artists are sought out and shorlisted year round for this annual event. Corey Helford Gallery, Culver City, CA USA United States of America Corey Helford Gallery is proud to present �Tracking The Wounded�, a solo exhibition of new works by Joey Remmers. For his first solo show at the gallery, Remmers creates a series of compelling visual narratives, many are adaptations from his favorite novels and short stories. Inspired by authors from Steven King and Chuck Palahniuk to Michael Chabon and Dean Koontz, Remmers employs the paintbrush, as an author would the pen, to create timeless moments and intimate snapshots. Remmers� color palette is more muted than before, and the oil and mixed media works highlight the grain of his birch panels. Upstairs in the loft space, guest artist Devin Crane will unveil a new series of paintings entitled, �Love & Tears�. A DreamWorks animator, Crane skillfully illustrates the emotional pain of relationships that have gone sour as well as the transformation of finding true love. The reception for �Tracking The Wounded� and �Love & Tears� take place on Saturday, January 24.
