Sense and Absence : Dana Saulnier
First Street Gallery, New York, NY USA United States of America

The First Street Gallery in New York hosts Dana Saulnier in 'Sense and Absence' from April 28 through May 23, 2009. The work attempts to create both a visceral spatial experience of the body and a critical dialogue into two basic modes of understanding our being: our body as site, understood as encompassed within the plenitude of nature and our lost relationships to spiritual traditions especially as they have been expressed in paintings of the figure in landscape, an image which remains the nominal subject of the image. The First Street Gallery promotes their artists with a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Claudio Parmiggiani : New Work
Simon Lee Gallery, London, UK United Kingdom

Simon Lee Gallery is delighted to present a new body of work by Italian conceptual artist Claudio Parmiggiani, one of the first exhibitions of his work in the UK. During his time at the Istituto di Belle Arti di Modena (1958-1960), Parmiggiani frequented the studio of Giorgio Morandi, whose work was to have a profound impact on him. The spirit of Marcel Duchamp and Piero Manzoni was also apparent early on in his manipulation and presentation of objects, for example the arrangement of a globe and a pickle jar containing a crumpled map in 1968. He has never allied himself with any particular group, but he shared with some of his contemporaries, such as Michelangelo Pistoletto and Giulio Paolini, a progression from conceptual works, including installations, photo-works and books, towards a use of assemblage. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

ART AND THE ECONOMY-HIT OR MISS!!!
John Powell

There are many elements involved in an economy but I choose to look at art. Art appreciation is a gateway to the intellectual capacity of the mind, which opens the door for learning because in art you find cultural diversity, where learning first starts. To appreciate diverse art forms, one has to be first culturally diverse/aware because it is through art all forms of cultures are seen.

It is said that credit, is the life blood of any economy, art is one credit that helps to detect "signs" of an economy? It is in the art collection of any country that can help one to see the wealth of a country. So, you can see the important place art plays in an economy. It helps us to see what one could term the early "signs" of a good or bad economy in a country, hence art is about visual signs but most people mainly who I would call the connoisseurs of the economy, may have not been looking at art as an element for signs for an economical depression. A work of art may be understood as a conductor from the artist's mind to the viewer's but it may never reach the viewer. With the advent of the Internet, artists can set up their own websites and be seen.
