Clash of the Artists - Finals Event: A CELEBRATION FEAST FOR THE SENSES
Art for Progress, New York, NY USA United States of America

CLASH OF THE ARTISTS 2009 is a world class act, in its 3rd year, with an international competition that encompasses genres of visual art, fashion, film, live music, and DJs. This grass-roots collective is the creation of Art For Progress (www.artforprogress.org), a 501(c)3 nonprofit cutting edge organization, that holds an open-call for emerging artists with no borders, reaching as far as Africa and Japan. The global contest converges with the stellar event, Clash of the Artists, on March 14th. This first of its kind, interactive competition allows the on-line community to see global art, view short films, listen to live music and participate in a happening, rather than a virtual image, with over 15,000 votes cast on-line last year. This year has been even more competitive, with talented artists vying for the top 3 finalists in each category, competing live at 320 Studios in Manhattan on March 14th. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Corrections - Some Magic... and some Truth
SOMArts Cultural Center, San Francisco, CA USA United States of America

As artists, we often express our feelings and thoughts concerning injustices, abuses of power, good and evil, or just the way we would like the Earth to be. Even if its only our own little corner of the world or in our own heart and soul. Making corrections, righting wrongs. This exhibit is dedicated to that theme. An example of a wrong could be a polluted landscape, political or governmental abuses, ignorance and lies, war scene or a disaster. An example of a right (a correction) could represent or express any situation that has been corrected. The work can be of any style or media: representational, abstract or conceptual. Many of the artists in the exhibiton promote their works with Portfolios at absolutearts.com. Artists participating in the exhibition are Brad Michael Moore, Frank Ettenberg, Cassandra Gordon-Harris, Harriette Lawler, Midori McCabe, Pia B. Lehmann, Ione Citrin, Gadi Veneziano, Virginia Erdie, Rodrigo Piedrahita Escobar, Diane Hill, Christian Moeller, Jasmine Ronel, Betty Bastai, Sarah Bindman, Donelli DiMaria, Bill Jackson, Sun-Young Jin, Elizabeth King, Rivka Kos, Terry Kruger, Linsay Locke, Neil Nieuwoudt, Marat Paransky, Billy Rose, Cecilia August Sand, David Trachtenberg, Solomon Walker, and Genevieve Williams. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com

Perry Four - Tim Kennedy
First Street Gallery, New York, NY USA United States of America

Perry Four, a solo exhibition of paintings by Tim Kennedy, will appear at First Street Gallery from March 3 to 28, 2009. This is Mr. Kennedy's fifth solo exhibition at First Street Gallery. The exhibit will consist of both large-scale paintings and smaller works based on the theme of the intimacy inherent and discovered within domestic life. Intimate interiors and yard landscapes peopled with figures engaged in everyday domestic activities predominate in these works. The paintings in this exhibit, all from the past three years, focus on subjects and individuals that live within the few blocks near his home in Bloomington, Indiana. The Perry Four of the show's title is section four of Perry Township in Monroe County. It is a neighborhood of bungalows, storefront churches and traditional Midwest housing stock. Each painting hints at but doesn't elaborate on an intimate story or event, offering a window into everyday life. First Street Gallery promotes their artists with a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com. - Read Indepth Article at http://www.absolutearts.com
