Many of his elemental works evolved over a period of years. They evoke the forces of nature and the passage of time, incorporating fossil-like forms, miniature mountainscapes, and unusually juxtaposed natural objects. Wend uses found, recycled or salvaged materials in many of these artworks that reflect his lifelong passion for the environment and the natural sciences.
