Spacex, Execter, UK United Kingdom Spacex is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of work by German artist Christiane Baumgartner. Baumgartner lives and works in Leipzig, a German city famous for printmaking. She is well known for her monumental monochrome woodcuts taken from her own film and video stills. The exhibition will comprise of a new body of work which includes Solaris I, Solaris III, Solaris IV, 2008, Deutscher Wald, 2007 and Final Cut, 2006. The images demonstrate Baumgartner's fascination with speed and the passage of time, a recurring theme throughout the work. Riflemaker, London, UK United Kingdom The private file-folders of William S Burroughs (1914 � 1997), visionary author of Naked Lunch and The Soft Machine and primary member of the Beat Generation, go on display in the UK for the first time at Riflemaker from 16 December. When Burroughs, famed as a novelist, essayist, social critic, painter and spoken word performer, noted down ideas for future use he would invariably file them in US standard manila file-folders. MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA USA United States of America Continuing his investigation into manufacturing processes and labor, Simon Starling will create a major new work for MASS MoCA's Building 5 as part of an exhibition entitled The Nanjing Particles which opens December 13, 2008. The installation will address a particularly poignant socioeconomic moment in North Adams' history - the period during which the town was, surprisingly, home to the largest population of Chinese immigrant workers east of the Mississippi. The Four Letter "T" Word

 I grew up in an age that eschewed four letter words as "dirty" or uncivilized. All that has changed: just tune into any prime time TV show and there are bound to be several words casually spoken that would have gotten me and my peers expelled from school. However those are not the most dreadful words of all. In fact, the more a blasphemous word is used, the less shocking and more mainstream it becomes. Think of how ordinary or even welcomed an explicative is in a friendly greeting, an advertisement or a song. However, there is one four letter word that has the worst connotation of all. The four letter word to which I am referring is "time." Time is my nemesis, my enemy and the word that can intimidate me like no other. Who would not give up millions for time? Recently the MegaLotto in New York was $86 million. Had I won, I would have gladly traded all the lovely cash for a mere two more hours in each day. I can fantasize about millions and paying off my bills, buying necessities (a new lens or some good new brushes) or luxuries (a new camera and all the gadgets that go with), upgrading my equipment and fixing my house, but I space out at the thought of more time. Imagine!!
